Privacy Policy

1. Scope

This policy explains how the Image Collector Chrome extension and its product website (together, the “Service”) handle information. Some Pro services are in early access and may be enabled in stages. A feature that is not enabled does not transmit data.

2. Information handled locally

When you choose to capture or organize an image, the extension may store the following in Chrome local storage:

Connecting a Google account is optional. Only after you choose to connect it, the extension uses the Chrome Identity API to read the email address and stable Google account identifier of the signed-in Chrome profile. Those values are stored in Chrome local storage on the current browser to label the local Preview account. They are not uploaded or sent to a payment provider during the current local Preview. You can use the Free workflow without connecting an account.

Normal browsing history is not sent to us. Image Collector reads page information only to provide the action you request on the current page.

3. Information sent for optional online services

Pro entitlement and payment

Research Pro is free during Preview. Billing, checkout, paid subscriptions and card collection are disabled. If a paid plan is introduced later, we will update this policy and explain the provider and information handled before checkout is enabled. Image Collector will not receive or store complete card numbers or security codes.

Cloud snapshots and device activation

When Pro cloud features are enabled, a library snapshot is uploaded only after you explicitly request an upload. A snapshot may contain captured image URLs or imported image data, sources, tags, notes, categories, OCR text, rules and optional product-research fields. Private snapshots are planned to be stored using Cloudflare services. Device activation may store an installation identifier, subscription status and expiry information.

OCR

When OCR becomes available and you explicitly start it, a resized copy of the selected image may be sent through our service to an OCR provider such as Google Cloud Vision. OCR is not performed silently in the background.

Link checks

When you start a source or product-link check, the extension requests that saved URL and stores the result locally. Login walls, anti-bot systems and temporary network errors may produce an “unable to verify” result.

4. Service providers

5. Retention and deletion

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including private service credentials for any enabled online action. No internet service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. International processing

Optional online providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their handling is governed by their own terms, privacy notices and applicable data protection requirements.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Your choices

You can use the core local workflow and local Pro Preview without a cloud upload. You decide when to connect a Google account, capture an image, enable a local link check or use any future online feature.

10. Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Image Collector’s use and transfer of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use data only to provide or improve the user-facing features described in this policy. We do not sell user data, use it for personalized advertising or credit decisions, or allow human access except with explicit consent, for security or abuse investigation, to comply with law, or for internal operations using aggregated and de-identified data.

11. Changes

We may update this policy as the Service changes. The current version and effective date will remain available on this page.

12. Contact

Questions or deletion requests can be sent to ccguangyao@gmail.com. We aim to respond to support requests within three business days.
